Livin’ Lavish in Catalina

It’s been a while! I’ve been catching up on a lot of things – work, homework, life… But beyond this i was able to go on a little vacation! I’ve never been to Catalina so I was HYPE. I’ve heard so many great things about it but I never would have though a one night stay would be this amazing; in a small town like this, I still needed more time. Let me just say this: I’ve never lived so damn lavish. For those of you who don’t know, my mom was recently diagnosed with stage 4 breast and bone cancer. Although everyone feels bad and thinks of her as someone who’s ill, she still manages to put a smile on everyday and live life like she’s still 100% healthy. Life is short, so she’s definitely trying to make it worth while. Our vacation was bliss. For the first time, I really found faith in this fight; she wasn’t alone. She didn’t have one moment where she seemed sick on our short vacation. Shit, she even went parasailing with me. We all took a helicopter to the island. It’s really crazy to see how short life can be, and I’m glad I was able to be a part of such a happy and blissful couple of days.

First thing’s first; I departed Long Beach with my aunts and mom on a HELICOPTER! That’s one check off of my bucketlist, thank you Joy and IEX Helicopters… We arrived at the home we were staying at, which was cute as hell. Since Catalina is pretty much trying to remain untouched, everything is built up, rather than out. All of the houses are built upwards to maximize the small amount of space on the island itself. It kind of made me feel like a giant. We walked around the little walking area which had a couple touristy shops and restaurants. Pictures can’t even begin to describe the beauty that this place displays. The water was clear and everything was clean. It felt like I wasn’t far away from home, even though we weren’t all that far away. We ate good food and slept well, saw the most beautiful sights and shared a lot of laughs. My mom and I went parasailing and that was one of the most peaceful moments I’ve ever experienced in my life. Faith and love radiated from us. I haven’t felt that way in a long time.

This was a short post but I hope the pictures show enough of what I experienced since I can’t really put it into words…
